Advancing sustainable development requires democracy and good governance. It is only in a democracy that people can be empowered to demand better policies, express grievances, seek justice and hold leaders and the private sector to account. Democratic institutions empower people to influence their government to prioritize national development that is equitable and sustainable. In a true democracy, people can demand better policies, express grievances, hold leaders accountable and seek justice from courts of law through the processes of judicial review and public interest litigation.
A government accountable to its citizens is one of the cornerstones of good governance. LRF promotes democracy and good governance in Pakistan and helping to ensure, economic equality, fairness and civic participation. LRF works with government and its institution to advance democracy and good governance in Pakistan. The LRF has worked on democracy and good governance, which are now largely embodied in Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 plan. LRF core democracy and governance programs in areas are institute measurers for accountability, transparency, democracy and justice in governance. LRF also work on cross-cutting issues such as institutional strengthening in justice provider, education, corporate accountability and human rights adherence.
