LRF in response to Pandemic COVID-19 in Sindh, Pakistan, LRF is implementing Hygiene and Behavior Change Collation Project in 05 districts (Karachi, Dadu, Larkana, Shikarpur and Jacobabad) of Sindh. Hygiene KITs distributed in 52000 to preventing pandemic in children, caregiver, families, slums areas, children in schools, shelter homes, Youthful Offenders Schools and; 673 capacitating building of teaching and non- teaching staff to preventing from COVID-19 and 102 WASH; construction of hand washing facilities in targeted schools; distribution of IEC material; FM radio broad casting, Sindh TV airing including social media campaigning.
More than 02million community members including caregivers through FM Radio and TV channel were reached on prevention of coronavirus and reduction of social stigma attached with Coronavirus positive people.
Capacity building of 200 teaching and non- teaching staff was made, through comprehensive training on WASH COVID-19 and application re opening of school SOPs by government under set guidelines of UNICEF and WHO, this capacity building sessions were facilitated by trained and technically well-equipped staff of legal Rights Forum with the support of Save the children, these sessions held the government school administration in implementation of SOPs se by the government. After re opening of the schools teachers trickle down the training among more than 20,000 children in schools.
Hygiene kits (each kit containing 5 soaps and 3 hand sanitizers) were distributed among 52646 children as they can prevent their self apart from hygiene kits distribution among children 200 Soaps and 200 sanitizers and one temperature measuring instrument were handed over among 84 schools. IEC material depicting pictorial guidelines for proper hand washing and other preventing guidelines was also disseminated among schools.
LRF with the support of save the children constructed 102 hand washing stations targeted schools which were selected with consultation of School Education and Literacy Department Government Sindh SE&LD and Deputy Commissioners of respective districts, average 16 schools were selected in each district. During construction of hand washing stations ease for disable children is also taken in consideration.
