Joint Launch of Flood Response by Save the Children and LRF in Khairpur and Dadu Districts of Sindh
Save the Children, Pakistan together with Legal Rights Forum (LRF), has scaled up its Flood Response 2022 to two more districts, Khairpur and Dadu in Sindh Province. The Flood Response was launched in the backdrop of devastating rains and floods that wreaked havoc across the country, affecting an estimated 33 million population, including 16 million children. Sindh remains one of the worst-hit provinces where Save the Children and LRF previously completed their relief operations in the districts of Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Sanghar, Dadu & Khairpur Mir’s.
LRF, a right-based humanitarian support organization working in various districts of Sindh, is further expanding its flood relief activities supported by Save the Children which is one of the leading development organizations in Pakistan, implementing humanitarian and development programs with a unique focus on the needs and rights of children.
Honorable Madam Nuzhat Shirin, Chairperson of Sindh Commission on the Status of Women and representatives from Save the Children Pakistan Program and LRF attended the distribution of relief items in District Dadu at Village Gullan Panhwar in UC Yar Muhammad Kalhoro. The Legal Rights Forum team, supported by Save the Children, intend to distribute 430 relief items including tents, food packs, household kits, health & hygiene kits and women’s dignity kits to help approximately 1000 beneficiaries in the Dadu District.
At the distribution site, Madam Nuzhat Shirin shared that the Government is committed to help out flood affectees in association with development partners. She appreciated the generous support being provided by Save the Children in Sindh, especially providing relief to women and children in these challenging times.
Later, Madam Nuzhat Shirin met with flood survivors and distributed relief items. Mr. Toufique Wassan (Program Manager-LRF), Mr. Imran Bhand (Field Coordinator-LRF), Mr. Manzoor Ahmed (Admin Officer-LRF) and Ms. Mehwish hina (Program Officer-LRF) were also present at the occasion.
